Verdict

4.4/5 — God, what a bad run I had at partner complex Therme Erding near Munich: overcrowded and poorly structured. That made Badeparadies Schwarzwald in Titisee hit even harder. Three big zones — and the textile-free wellness core alone justifies the trip. Sauna lovers who like a show: come here. A couple of hours is not enough.

Galaxy — everything a kid’s heart wants

Badeparadies is three worlds. Galaxy is the big hall of slides and everything kids dream of — roughly 23 high-tech slides plus a wave pool. Equipment 5: salt bath, mineral pools, swim-up bar, water-sports programme, sunbathing, salt room, cocoons, peelings everywhere, non-stop activities — and for children this fun pool that really delivers.

Palm Oasis — entertainment while the kids play next door

The Oasis (Palmenoase) is adult hangout while children play next door: a cold beer in the pool, a massage, water sports if you feel like it and dare. We spent maybe 1–2 hours here — then it was told out. Nice, but not why you stay all day.

Palais Vital — the wellness core that carries the day

The wellness area is a different story. I had never seen a sauna zone this large, let alone so many individual cabins. On roughly 6,000 m² you get 12 themed saunas (55–90 °C), Vital Pools, Crystal Mist steam bath and the textile-free water world. Relaxation and spectacle, with music that put me in the right mood to sweat. 16+, textile-free.

Staff: 5 — very friendly, always smiling, many international colleagues doing excellent work. Always helpful.

Vital Pools

Water highlights: Crystal Shower, foot pools, Vital Lagoon

The Crystal Shower is a huge room where six waterfall streams drop from ceiling to floor. Cold water — perfect cool-down after a sauna. Stand under a jet and it hammers you like a soothing, slightly uncomfortable massage.

The foot pools offer warmer (36 °C) and cold (10 °C) water — perfect to bring body temperature down.

The Vital Lagoon is a big bathing zone (about 300 m²) with massage spots, an outdoor section and a bar whose drinks were surprisingly not as expensive as expected — meaning normal restaurant prices. Plus Champagne Pool and six mineral Vital Pools.

Aufguss odyssey: six shows in one day

Sauna highlights next. You can only do so many rounds — still, we managed six infusions in one day. Score 5: every Aufguss different and an experience — music, dance, techno, birch twigs, incense, blazing hot, less hot, up to five baskets of ice, and truly committed masters.

Birch sauna — earthbound

One infusion was in the birch sauna, birch trunks recreating a nature-true atmosphere. With relaxing nature sounds came an infusion with leafy branches used for fanning and later refreshment. A very special, spiritually earthbound ritual.

Black Forest chalet — techno and heat

The Black Forest chalet feels like an old ski hut cranked up hot. On two floors a party ran under loud techno while the master fused dancing and fanning across four rounds. Hottest Aufguss of the day by far — the show distracts from the heat, at least for those who stayed to the end. Apparently one of the most popular infusions in Palais Vital.

Heimatstube — a pause at 70 °C

In the Heimatstube, benches and tables let you take a break at 70 °C and even play a game.

Alhambra — choreography and pop

In Alhambra we caught two infusions. The cabin is beautiful; the shows stole it. Master and mistress built a gorgeous choreography with props to pop music from different cultures — pure joy.

The masters and the daily programme

The infusion masters here are professional, entertaining and likable. They turn sweating into an attraction you refuse to miss for the scents alone. Every show was outstanding and fun — mid-day you genuinely fear missing something. Luckily dedicated Aufgüsse run only once an hour, so you can recover between. At other times peelings and meditations are offered; we could not catch them all, even though we wanted to. Programme also via the BLUPHORIA app and on-site screens.

Food, drinks, services — honestly

Food 2.5: the menu feels under-researched — salad, Spätzle, schnitzel or burger. Restaurant “TOP” (Taste of Paradise) in Palais Vital: fine to fill up, not a highlight.

Drinks 4.5: cool swim-up bar with fair smoothies, cocktails, alcohol — this saves the gastro side.

Services 4: all the classics, nothing extraordinary (massage lounge “Pure Balance” among them).

Cleanliness 5: properly clean, pleasant toilets.

Who it’s for — and how long

The atmosphere in this wellness paradise was something special. I recommend every sauna lover — especially those who want a good show — a trip to Badeparadies by Titisee. A few hours simply are not worth it: plan at least five hours to try the pools, take two to five infusions, sip something at the bar and nap on loungers or in bungalows.

The only real ordeal after that beautiful day: driving home safely without falling asleep.
